MATCHWEEK 21 & 22

Week 21

With Speranza eSport 14 points clear with only 6 games left, all they need is 4 points to secure the title. Surely with their recent form and expected-to-win matches, this can be done this week? Who knows, this is football, this is FIFA, this is the international league.

Game of the Week

Speranza were at home to FC Ziomy. What a match! The games inevitable fate of Speranza victory was given the green light thanks to a very early 8 minute GOAL by SpZ-Ryooo, easy game for them? The rest of the first half had a few corners either side but nothing materialized. Second half, 7 minutes in and Ziomy grab the equalizer GOAL through their striker Mersien. This rattled speranza and boosted Ziomy. Many shots and many fast counters, tackles and fouls occurred in this battle. Ziomy keeper saving the day with 10 saves already, 70th minute! Unfortunately for them, 87th minute and Ziomy LB gives an unnecessary penalty away. Speranza kicker steps up, shoots top right and save by the goalie, rebound off his gloves into the chasing feet of Spz-Cash3r and GOAL! So unlucky after a great save. Home fans now booing and whistling, anything to put Ziomy players off. 2 minutes left. Speranza clearing the ball, a few scrambles everywhere. Ball goes out for a throw at the half way line. One last chance, last attack for Ziomy. A long throw into the half of Speranza, cleared by defender heads, back up by Ziomy heads, ping pong for a few moments when suddenly the ball is headed over the Speranza defense and Ziomy winger Emdzey collects it on the 6 yard corner and gently chips it right into the center of the goal front, Kloczilla rises up and GOAL! What a scramble! Nobody expected that, great persistence by the Polish Ziomy. The game is finished and Speranza dropped 2 points.

Second place Cixers eSport vs LH Acadamy. On paper with LH’s recent poor form this was meant to be a win for Cixers. In fact LH were the better team up until a terrible GK mistake that let Warrior score for Cixers in the 6 yard box, 67th minute. 4 minutes later a fantastic cross from the left let FuFu score a second for Cixers. A great 5 minutes there. LH had two end match open goal chances but failed to score.

Other title contenders ObstruXion were away to One Energy. ObX hammered the goal of One but didn't score until the 86th minute, ObX-Mika with the goal and assisted by ObX-Daftilk. 90th minute and ObX net again with ObX-Voolpy smashing home assisted by ObX-Rasoir. A fairly simple run out for ObX in the end.

Both 4th spot teams were set to fight for it this week. Fifa Mugs hosting Techsturbation. Not much in this game until Tech opened the scoring with P0te and assisted by Iguanabite, yes a player, not an actual iguana. Then a few minutes later in the 62nd Chester equalized for Mugs assisted by Andy_re. Game ends and only 5 shots on target all match.

Inception vs Alerion eSport. Unfortunately Inception’s home stadium is still heavily waterlogged from the recent flood. Temporary venues will possibly be allocated, match still to be played.

Week 22

After last weeks draw, Speranza were left asking questions. Regardless of a match they should win, all they need is 3 points and the title is theirs. This week they were away to Alerion eSport (France XI). With Alerion being in the middle table, Speranza on paper should win and seal the season here. The match kicked off, terrible weather. Speranza had full possession as usual, a great shot top left was saved by Alerion GK, two corners and plenty of passing. The first time Alerion had the ball was on their first counter attack, a poor header by a CB let Djalmasantos run down the wing, get to the edge of the box and gently dink it across the goal for Ludo to head in the first GOAL, 1-0 Alerion. The remainder of the match was as expected, a full attack from Speranza. A few yellow cards and plenty of corners but it wasnt to be. Alerion had defended well with their GK Tiragen playing great. Unluckily for them, in the 90th minute Speranza had surrounded their box and a little magic from SpZ-Ryooo, a tasty bit of skill taking him to the box, small pass across to SpZ-Heisen then straight back to Ryooo who continued his run, first time shot to the back right of the net, GOAL, 92nd minute! Was there time for another? Not today. The match ended and everyone agreed it was a fair game. So 2 draws in a row for Speranza. Still needing that elusive win, next week they face ObstruXion who are in second place 6 points behind and then onto the draw specialists LH Academy, will the mighty LH put up their wall and keep them out? Maybe with their new signing WaterRealms, a solid CDM from Turkey, we shall see. Anything can happen, will Speranza bottle it?

Techsturbation played hosts to title contenders Cixers eSport this week. Last week Tech drew to Fifa Mugs and this week again they managed to scramble a draw. The match was very even and Tech had the better statistics. Better shooting, passing and possession but this isn't everything. Any good team can withstand a battle but still win the war. Cixers managed to start a good attack and GOAL in the 87th minute! What a blow to Tech, again CiX_FUFU upping his goal tally. These 3 points could be vital for Cixers. Just 6 minutes left including injury time. 93rd minutes and GOAL, out of nowhere. Heavy pressure from Tech, Chipsa showing why he is captain, great assist by Grizzllllyy. Full time whistle goes. What is with all these last minute goals recently!

ObstruXion, the team hoping to catch up to Speranza. This week they welcomed Inception. 3 points here would would mean only 6 points behind Speranza. Then their match next week, with a win, would put hem just 3 points behind, this could be a tight finish. It was another straight forward day for Obx. Securing two first half GOALS, Voolpy and Daftilk scoring the goals, same as their previous match. In the second second half and after a great team talk by their manager, Inception managed to bring one back with a GOAL from SplashOK set up by PinChoALTA, 59th minute. With great heart Inception battled for a second but Obx took control and sealed the win.

LH Academy were eager to beat their guests ONE Energy. One Energy being the team with hard luck during the season managed to defy the LH in the reverse fixture and again today it was fated to be a draw. It was a fair game with even stats. However, 89th minute One found themselves on the edge of the box attacking LH when Jabsterbaink took a shot from outside the area and on its way took a huge deflection of his own teammates KNEE and flew top left for a GOAL out of the GKs reach, lucky but well earned! How devastating for LH, another game they failed to capture. With just 60 seconds to go and the home fans starting to filter out their seats to leave, feeling downhearted because atleast a draw would be nice, when suddenly LH defender LH_Shifty booted a long pass to the CM. LH made 10 or 12 good small accurate passes around the center when with maybe 30 seconds left, LH_Keejo saw a cutting passing from CDM to LH_Fancy in CAM, turned passed an oncoming opponent, saw a gap and launched a simple by deadly through ball to LH_Clayton who wasn't going to miss this chance, bottom left shot past the GK for their equalizing GOAL! Great move, why they couldn't do it earlier will keep people guessing. Game ends after kick off.
