Week 2 of the Pro League INT seems to have everything you can ask for, boring 4:4 draws, entertaining 8:0 wins and your standard 2:1 results. Follow us through the less known  highlights of week 2.

2 games + 2 players = 10 goals?

Stefan and PandaDahley are taking the league by storm. Revivals opponents will have nightmares for weeks with these two running at them. They managed to score 14 out of 21 goals so far for Revival this season. The worrying thing about this fact is that we are in week 2! Stefan on his own has 8 goals and 4 assists to his name. If he continues like this he will smash his own personal record of 37 goal participations (43 if you add the cup stats) with ease. Sadly PandaDahley only played 9 games last season, we are looking forward to what he can achieve this season if he plays more games than last year. Last year he scored eight goals in 9 games. In all fairness, he played the 9th game in CDM. So, in order to beat last years quota he has to score 1 goal per game.

In the right place, at the right time. Panda adds to offensive contributions with a hat trick against Paramount.

+ Veteran vs Newcomer

This is about more than just comparing stats, it’s about comparing the best defense to the worst attack. Ragnarök had a bit of a rough start to the season. Funny enough, they scored their only goal of the season against Legacy, who beat them 2:1 in the Season opener. Legacy on the other hand had a brilliant start to the season with their top striker (Doelpunten) battling for the top scorer lead. These two couldn’t be further from each other. Legacy, the veteran that won the german cup last season, vs Ragnarök, the newcomer that has next to no competitive experience. I’m pretty sure once Ragnarök settle into the competitive scene, they will be tougher to beat. Additionally to that, every new team has to get to know each other and learn how everyone is playing. They might grow to a powerhouse like Legacy in a couple seasons. I guess we will find out about that in the next couple seasons.

Tempers flare late on, as Ragnarok fail to score again, away to REVIVAL.

Ukrainian entertainers strike again

Ukraine continued to entertain in matchweek 2. After last week’s goal filled fixtures, it was Ukraine that found themselves entangled in another exciting matchup. Lex Artis were their opponents on matchday 4. Ukraine were on the ropes early, after Lex Artis struck three times in the short span of 27 minutes. I'm not sure what was said at half time but whatever it was, it worked. Ukraine miraculously fought back, scoring three of their own. But when LA-snooozeee’s shot escaped the keeper’s grasp in the 89th minute, it looked like the knockout blow. For the second time in the season, Ukraine managed to score in the 90th minute to steal a point away from their opponents. This team does not lie down, they fight to the very last minute, and that is to be commended. However I am certain that in future, they will want to turn these turbulent ping pong matches, into three points rather than one.

Season repeat for The Rising Phoenix?

The Rising Phoenix management can be happy after 3 points out of week 1 in the new season. Every TRP fan would have hoped for a better season than last year. Although this season is already showing similarities. For example, last season, TRP won the first game of the season against Unshackled (3:2). After that it went downhill for them, they only recorded three wins in Season 17. The other two were default wins against First Flow and Ravens. This Season, TRP won against Paramount FC and lost every game since. Is this going to be a repeat of S17 or can they finally find themselves, grow stronger as a team and win more than they did last year?

Frantic tinkering with a silver lining

It's been a rough ride so far for Paramount, who find themselves rock bottom of the table with a grand total of 0 points. After their first defeat against Rising Phoenix, it was clear that something just wasn’t working. Matchday 3 saw them change to a 4321 with limited success. However despite conceding 4, Paramount did improve in the attack, scoring twice against their opponents. Free scoring Revival were next on matchday 4, and tinkering was once again on the cards. Paramount bravely set up with a 433 False 9, a formation that displayed attacking intent. To say this approach backfired is an understatement. However, as they say “For every bad situation there is always a silver lining”, and for Paramount that is their impressive disciplinary record. They are the only team with a completely clean record. Such a thing might not win games, but at least it looks good!
