The History of ProLeague
Phase 1: The Community Era
ProLeague was built by the community, for the community.
At that time, there were no investors, no company behind the project, and no commercial ambitions. The platform was created and maintained by volunteer players and administrators who wanted to provide a dedicated home for the Pro Clubs game mode. Over the years, the league was organized on a voluntary basis and continuously developed. According to its own records, the community has existed for more than ten years, making it one of the oldest established Pro Clubs leagues in Europe.
The project was primarily funded through:
- Team entry fees
- Personal financial contributions from individual organizers
- Volunteer support
- Community contributions
During this phase, the focus was not on profitability, but on building and maintaining a stable and functioning league.
Phase 2: Growth and Professionalization
As the community continued to grow, so did its requirements.
What once involved supporting a few hundred players evolved into managing thousands of users across multiple countries, alongside livestreams, statistics, tournaments, customer support, social media, server infrastructure, platform development, and partnerships.
At the same time, operational costs increased significantly:
- Hosting and infrastructure
- Platform development
- Graphic design and branding
- Livestream production
- Administration
- Data protection and compliance
- Legal requirements
- International expansion
Over time, it became clear that many of these responsibilities could no longer be sustained through volunteer work alone.
Phase 3: The Transition to HAGMAR GmbH & Co. KG
To ensure the long-term stability and continued development of ProLeague, the platform was brought under the umbrella of HAGMAR GmbH & Co. KG.
The goal was never to turn a community project into a purely commercial business.
Instead, the objective was clear:
A platform of this scale requires a professional organizational and financial structure to operate sustainably and continue growing.
Today, HAGMAR is responsible for:
- Platform development
- Technical infrastructure
- Day-to-day operations
- User support
- Marketing and partnerships
- New competitions and projects
- International expansion
This structure enables long-term planning and investment for the first time, ensuring that ProLeague can continue to evolve in a sustainable way.
Most importantly, HAGMAR is fundamentally built on people from within the ProLeague community. Many of the individuals involved in shaping, operating, and developing the platform come directly from the community itself, ensuring that ProLeague remains closely connected to its roots while taking the next step toward a professional future.
Phase 4: Why Premium Was Created
This is where Premium comes into the picture.
In the past, many costs were absorbed indirectly through volunteer work and personal contributions from community members.
Today, however, the community expects:
- Modern platforms
- New features
- Mobile apps
- Advanced statistics
- Automated match data
- Notifications
- Transfer systems
- International competitions
- Reliable support
Providing and maintaining these services comes with ongoing costs.
That is why ProLeague Premium was introduced.
The purpose of Premium is not to place essential features behind a paywall. Instead, it was created to help fund the continued development of the platform while rewarding supporters with additional features and an ad-free experience. ProLeague itself remains fundamentally free to use. Premium simply offers enhanced functionality and additional benefits for those who choose to support the platform.
Summary:
Founded by the community more than a decade ago, ProLeague has grown into one of Europe's most established Pro Clubs platforms. What began as a volunteer-driven project created by passionate players has evolved into an international platform with thousands of users, its own competitions, extensive statistics, and professional livestream productions.
As the platform expanded, so did the demands on technology, organization, and development. To ensure long-term stability and continued growth, ProLeague was brought under the umbrella of HAGMAR GmbH & Co. KG, providing the professional structure required to support a platform of this scale.
Despite these changes, the community remains at the heart of ProLeague. At the same time, Premium memberships, partnerships, and competitions provide the foundation needed to continuously improve the platform and create new opportunities for players, teams, clubs, and communities across Europe and beyond.
