ProLeague Meets EA SPORTS FC at gamescom
gamescom is a key meeting point for the international gaming industry and this year it gave ProLeague a special opportunity for direct exchange with EA SPORTS FC.
On press day, Marcel “Fitzo” Fitzek from ProLeague and Patrick Baur from esport-manager.com first received exclusive insights in a small group setting. This was followed by a personal meeting with the Director of Product for EA SPORTS FC.
The Grounds: Thinking Beyond Traditional 11v11 Clubs
One of the main focuses of the presentation was the latest feature set surrounding The Grounds. It became clear that EA SPORTS FC is placing even more emphasis on each player’s individual identity within this open-world environment.
The Grounds is intended to be more than just a place to play. It is also designed to be a space where players can express their identity and connect with others. This could be an important addition for Clubs in particular: not every group has enough players available for a full 11v11 match at all times. Instead of having to switch to other modes or not playing at all, smaller formats such as 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 and Rush give players the chance to remain active within the Clubs environment.
From Marcel “Fitzo” Fitzek’s perspective, EA is addressing a familiar challenge of the mode in a meaningful way. Smaller formats can keep players connected to the Clubs ecosystem when their own group is not complete. At the same time, they create opportunities to meet new teammates. Individual matches can lead to new contacts, regular groups and, ultimately, even entirely new Clubs.
This means that The Grounds has the potential to connect the community and strengthen shared play beyond the traditional 11v11 experience.
Putting the Clubs Community at the Centre
The personal discussion with the Director of Product for EA SPORTS FC also focused on the perspective of the 11v11 community and the topics that matter to players, teams and organised competitions every day.
We shared the key points that we believe are relevant to the continued development of Clubs: more reliable structures, meaningful features for day-to-day team management and improvements that make the mode more attractive for both established Clubs and new players in the long term.
As a platform that has worked closely with players, managers and clubs for many years, we understand the practical demands of the community. We were able to share those experiences directly.
New Content and Further Discussions
In addition to The Grounds, further changes and new features for EA SPORTS FC were presented. These include, among other things, a new Archetype and the so-called AMPs. Some of these changes are already being heavily discussed within the community which also shows how important Clubs and the development of each player’s Virtual Pro are to many people.
A full breakdown would go beyond the scope of this article. For all details on the new features and changes, we recommend taking a look at EA SPORTS FC’s official Deep Dive.
A Valuable Direct Exchange
The discussion was constructive and showed how valuable direct dialogue with the community can be. Of course, no concrete announcements or commitments can be derived from it at this stage. Nevertheless, we take away important impressions, new ideas and the good feeling that the voice of the Clubs community was heard in the right place.
ProLeague and esport-manager.com will continue the exchange and remain committed to ensuring that digital team sport and Clubs receive the attention they deserve.
